Only authorized users can view search fields in workitem search. Make sure search fields are mapped to user roles.
SELECT SF.SEARCHFIELDNAME,DBS.ROLENAME from DSSEARCHFIELDMASTER SF, DSBASICSEARCHCONFIG DBS WHERE SF.SEARCHFIELDID = DBS.SEARCHID
